Angels, demons, saints and criminals have all walked these same cobblestones
Angel. A name that gives nothing away of what this neighbourhood really hides. Little known to tourists, nestled in the historic borough of Islington north of London, Angel is nonetheless one of the oldest and richest in stories in the entire capital. Its earliest streets date back to the 16th century — long before the Underground opened its doors here in 1901 and connected it to the rest of the world.
This tour follows in the footsteps of Angel’s famous residents — politicians, artists, religious figures and more — and leaves you to untangle the angels from the demons, to decide who deserved their halo or their pitchfork.
